In response to the emergency, World Vision Honduras is acting as quickly as possible to help thousands of people affected by Hurricane ETA. It has set aside $350,000 for the purchase of food and basic supplies, armed with food rations for distribution in several communities in the departments of Cortés, Yoro, Copán, El Paraíso, Intibucá and Francisco Morazán. At the same time, it is supporting 104 employees of its partner Gildan, who have also been affected by the floods and many of them are located in shelters. In total, more than 38,500 people are being assisted nationwide.

The differentiated assistance is gradually reaching the different communities and consists of a basic bag with food and toiletries such as toilet paper, bath soap, toothpaste, towels, blankets, repellent mats, water containers; as well as special kits for the care of children, the elderly and people with disabilities.

As a humanitarian agency in emergency situations, World Vision Honduras frames its support to the most vulnerable families, strengthening the health system with medical supplies, while preparing the socioeconomic impact assessment that will guide the measures in the recovery phase, always focused on the most affected sectors, especially its impact on children.

Our facilitators, supported by hundreds of volunteers, work to provide assistance in logistics and distribution, and psychosocial care to help alleviate a potential situation.

World Vision Honduras seeks to ensure a comprehensive, equitable and inclusive response that focuses on protecting children and their families.
